“In the Bag” Silent Auction will include 50-60 handbags…and some surprises!” says Brenda Blisk.
There are some surprises “In the Bag” for the Red Cross silent auction of 50-60 women’s handbags on November 5. In addition to bags from Versace to Vera Bradley and other nationally recognized designers, there will be bags from two local designers, two celebrities and prominent local businesswomen.
The celebrity bags come from Actress Cybill Shepherd and ABC’s White House correspondent Ann Compton. Cynne Simpson, Emmy-Award-winning journalist and anchor of the ABC-7 news at 5 p.m., will serve as emcee for the auction. Among the designer bags will be…
* One of Laura Lee Designs’ sequined evening bags and a suede-and-silk hand-embroidered Maya bag from oovoo designs by Pauline Lewis of Alexandria.
*A luxury French Leather Dog Carrier from Canine Commuter of Gainesville, VA.
*A Scout “Ice Ice Baby” insulated lunch tote from Let’s Dish with a $50 coupon towards a prepared meal.
*A crocheted tote made out of strips of plastic from recycled plastic bags by school children in the African country of Gambia.
Brenda Blisk, CFP®, founder and CEO of the Blisk Financial Group in McLean, VA, and a committee of 15 local businesswomen have been collecting the bags, some new and some gently used, for the past month.
